About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical-Surgical unit at Saline Memorial Hospital, which is part of Lifepoint Health. The role is PRN (as needed) and involves providing patient-centered care using the nursing process. The Medical Surgical unit spans two floors and has 60 beds. The RN will report directly to the Department Director and collaborate with physicians and other nursing professionals to ensure exceptional patient outcomes. Requirements

• Current state or compact state RN license.
• Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• One-year previous med surg experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NRP, Handle with Care, preferred within one year of hire.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties as assigned and requested.
• Completes focused patient assessments and reassessments based on patient’s condition, procedures, medications, and treatments.
• Adequately assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
• Provides patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and with specific needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications and ensures correct administration following the six rights to minimize medication errors.
• Assists physicians with procedures and provides services requiring technical and manual skills.
• Performs treatments and delivers care within licensure scope.
• Ensures patient safety by performing all aspects of care in an environment that reduces the likelihood of errors.
• Operates and manages equipment safely and correctly.
• Educates patients and families on disease processes and recovery expectations.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
