About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for Cornell 2, a Medical/Surgical unit. This is a full-time day shift position in Charlottesville, VA. A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 is available for qualified candidates. Cornell 2 specializes in a variety of patient conditions including oncology, urology, diabetes, kidney disease, COPD, and CHF. The unit offers a dynamic environment for both experienced nurses and new graduates, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5/1:6. The position involves 12-hour shifts with weekend rotations and includes comprehensive orientation and ongoing professional development. The team is led by a clinical manager who is a recipient of the 2025 Clinical President's Award. Sentara Martha Jefferson has a low RN turnover rate and high patient satisfaction scores.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • None required experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
  • 1 year of acute care (preferred)
  • Previous healthcare experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation).
  • Adhere to the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health).
  • Utilize clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards required by specific clinical areas.
