About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The nurse is expected to be a capable clinician focused on expanding knowledge and skills, providing effective direct care to complex patients as part of an interdisciplinary team. The nurse will manage care and implement treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members. The position involves seeking and providing feedback for improved clinical practice and taking on a beginning leadership role with mentoring. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective direct care to a variety of complex patients as part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Manage care and implement treatment plans in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians, and other members of the health care team.
  • Seek and provide feedback for improved clinical practice.
  • Assume a beginning leadership role with mentoring.
  • Protect, promote, and optimize health and abilities, prevent illness and injury, facilitate healing, and alleviate suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations.
  • Reflect the influence of the nurse’s relationship with self, colleagues, and patient/family on the patient experience.
  • Demonstrate clinical assessment, planning, prioritizing, coordinating, and implementation of care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and actively participate in shared governance.
  • Engage in professional development through formal education, professional certification, internal and external learning opportunities, and recognize the value of external professional organizations.
  • Support onboarding of new team members and precept as applicable.
  • Adhere to clinical documentation guidelines.
  • Comprehend outcomes data.
  • Engage in performance improvement activities.
  • Commit to standard work.
  • Apply technologies that support patient care.
