Registered Nurse - Elective Surgery
About The Position
Henry Ford Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for its elective surgery unit at the Moross Road campus. The unit is a fast-paced, high-acuity post-surgical environment providing patient-centered care for patients recovering from general, urological, vascular, colorectal, gynecological, and bariatric surgeries. Nurses may also care for surgical trauma overflow patients and manage complex therapies, including epidurals, tracheostomies, continuous bladder irrigation, chest tubes, and patient-controlled analgesia. The unit emphasizes teamwork, collaboration, clinical excellence, continuous learning, and holistic care that addresses patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position scheduled for 36 hours per week on the night shift, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, in three 12-hour shifts per week. The posting lists rotating every other weekend and observed holiday; the department description states every third weekend. The role is eligible for a $7,500 sign-on bonus.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
- Health care provider certification (BLS).

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in coordinating and delivering compassionate patient care.
- Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching for patients and families.
- Communicate pertinent patient and family information to the healthcare team.
- Participate in identifying and implementing solutions for variances from patient goals.
