About The Position

The Registered Nurse (R.N.) is responsible for age-appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of assigned patients, and assuring the planned care is delivered in a safe, economical, and efficient manner following JMH’s Policies and Procedures. The R.N. is responsible for complying with State and Federal Rules and Regulations for Hospitals; as well as complying with standards of care and all accrediting and legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current valid R.N. Georgia license with no restrictions.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • ACLS certification is required within one year of employment.
  • Freedom from illegal use of drugs and freedom from use and effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to relate to individuals with various ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Relates cooperatively and constructively with all patients, guests, families, physicians, peers, and all healthcare members as well as anyone that JHS’ employees interact with while performing their daily duties.
  • Full Ambulation and precise eye-hand coordination.
  • Some basic computer skills are required.
  • Knowledgeable and competent to perform essential functions.
  • Must be able to deal with a variety of personalities with whom the employee comes into contact with, both pleasant and irate.
  • Ability to visually and audibly perform all essential functions.
  • Moderate to high amount of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, pulling, pushing, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Minimum lifting requirement of 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, and chemical products.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional growth and expertise.
  • Must meet minimum requirements of the performance standards outlines in the criteria based evaluation and competency package.
  • Must meet minimum physical requirements as outlined in this job description.
  • Must meet education and experience requirements as outlined in this job description.
  • Must meet all billing and legal compliance requirements as established by Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Must comply with State and Federal Rules and Regulations for Hospitals.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year clinical experience preferred.
  • PALS certification is preferred and strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting individual patient care needs, actions taken and patient responses according to facility policies and procedures.
  • Accurately reports and records patient conditions, including signs and symptoms of a significant change.
  • Administers medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Documents all verbal physician orders received; repeats and verifies all verbal orders and documents.
  • Delegates or assigns aspects of patient care to healthcare team members commensurate with their validated competency to perform the task.
  • Assist in maintaining an environment that is conducive to the appropriate delivery of safe, relevant and quality patient care.
  • Counts and administers narcotics per facility policy.
  • Participates in change of shift report when appropriate.
  • Promotes infection control practices routinely.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Arrives for scheduled shift no earlier than fifteen (15) minutes before the shift begins and clocks out no later than fifteen (15) minutes after the scheduled shift ends.
  • Required to work weekends on a rotating basis.
  • Responsible for one overtime shift a month if needed.
  • Demonstrates loyalty to the organization, honesty, and integrity at all times in the care and use of patient / resident and facility property.
  • Demonstrates positive support of any and all programs / projects implemented by the DON or Administration.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient / resident information.
  • Displays a neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times.
  • Cooperates when needed if the facility faces an emergency or unusual circumstance.
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities through monitoring and evaluation of patient care.
  • May be asked to participate on committees and community projects.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service programs, performance improvement, and infection control activities as necessary.
  • Promote teamwork with physicians, patients, families, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Use proper body mechanics for transfers, lifting, etc…
  • All other duties as assigned.
