About The Position

The Registered Nurse will work in the Pre-Operative and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at the Centralia Surgery Center. This is a full-time position with a schedule primarily Monday-Friday, though occasional Saturdays may be required. The team rotates on-call, and some overnight shifts may be necessary based on patient needs. Olympia Orthopaedics is a drug-free, alcohol-free, and smoke-free workplace, and all offers of employment are contingent upon passing a background and pre-employment drug screen, which includes nicotine testing.

Requirements

IV Therapy experience (starting, discontinuing IVs, and administering medication).
Graduate of an accredited State Board of Nursing program.
Current Registered Nurse in the State of Washington required.
Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Administering care to patients prior to surgery.
Administer pre-surgery medication under the guidance of the physician and or physician assistant.
Evaluate and access admission documents, identify emergency procedures, and adhere to necessary pre-operation policies and procedures.
Monitor patients' vital signs including heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and respiratory rate.
Treating symptoms of postoperative nausea and vomiting.
Managing post-operative pain.
Treating post-anesthetic shivering.
Monitoring surgical site(s) for excessive bleeding, discharge, swelling, hematoma, redness, etc.
