Registered Nurse (RN) - NeuroSurgical ICU
About The Position
The Neuro-Surgical ICU is a 17-bed adult inpatient unit caring for critically ill neuroscience and neurosurgical patients, including patients with stroke, head and spinal cord trauma, and brain hemorrhage. Nurses in this specialty monitor intracranial pressures, brain tissue oxygenation, and hemodynamics, and provide family-centered care. They work closely with neuro-intensivists, physician assistants, and advanced practice registered nurses to provide high-quality patient care. Critical-care nurses are highly skilled and trained, providing bedside expertise and compassionate care. The unit relies on a team-based approach to achieve the best outcomes in accordance with Hartford HealthCare’s values of Safety, Excellence, Integrity, and Caring.
Requirements
- Current Connecticut RN license.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN required.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association, ACLS certification, and proof of Arrhythmia Certification required before the date of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum one year of acute care RN experience is strongly preferred.
- In exceptional circumstances, experienced ASN/ADN nurses currently pursuing a BSN or MSN may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Care for critically ill neuroscience and neurosurgical patients in an adult inpatient ICU.
- Monitor intracranial pressures, brain tissue oxygenation, and hemodynamics.
- Provide family-centered, compassionate care.
- Collaborate with neuro-intensivists, physician assistants, advanced practice registered nurses, and other healthcare team members to support patient outcomes.
