About The Position
The Registered Nurse works in the Emergency Department at Ascension Via Christi West ER in Wichita, Kansas, on a full-time night schedule. The role delivers compassionate, direct bedside care by following clinical protocols to support patient safety and outcomes. The nurse creates, manages, and evaluates individualized care plans, monitors patient conditions, and communicates vital status changes to the clinical team. The position coordinates care across medical disciplines, accurately carries out physician and nursing orders, and collaborates with the care team on efficient discharge transitions. Via Christi associates are eligible for tuition discounts and priority placement in select healthcare programs through an academic partnership with Wichita State University.
Requirements
- Obtain Advanced Life Support certification within 6 months (180 days) of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certifications are accepted.
- Obtain BLS Provider certification within 1 month (30 days) of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certifications are accepted.
- Obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 6 months (180 days) of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certifications are accepted.
- Hold a Registered Nurse credential from the Kansas Board of Nursing before hire or job transfer.
- Have a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or professional licensure at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, direct bedside care in accordance with established clinical protocols.
- Create, manage, and continuously evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Monitor patient condition and communicate vital status changes to the clinical team.
- Coordinate care across medical disciplines to support a seamless, collaborative healthcare experience.
- Accurately execute physician and nursing orders.
- Evaluate, plan, and coordinate efficient discharge transitions with the broader care team.
