About The Position

West Jefferson Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for its 28-bed Medical Surgical unit. The unit cares for a diverse patient population, with a strong focus on geriatric patients and patients requiring isolation precautions. It has negative-pressure capabilities and offers the opportunity to build clinical skills while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and supporting patients and their families.

The RN provides safe, high-quality, individualized care using clinical judgment, compassion, and nursing expertise. The role is suited to new graduates and experienced nurses. The position is on the night shift. A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 and full-benefits and limited-benefits options are advertised.

Requirements

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana, as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
• Prioritize and coordinate care for assigned patients.
• Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to appropriate members of the care team.
• Safely perform nursing procedures and follow established standards of care.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Delegate and supervise patient care activities appropriately.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families.
• Deliver effective handoffs to promote continuity of care.
• Maintain a safe environment while following infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives.
• Support teammates and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.
• Continue developing nursing knowledge and skills.
