Registered Nurse Emergency Department Mid Shift
About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring full-time Registered Nurses for our Emergency Department, which is home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing emergency nursing team where clinical skill, teamwork, and purpose come together to make an immediate impact for patients and families across the region. Qualified candidates may be eligible for up to a $15,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. The position is full-time, 36 hours per week, with evening and night shift positions available. The Emergency Department is a 53-bed unit equipped to manage a wide range of medical emergencies, with approximately 10% of cases related to trauma. Nurses in this department gain exposure to complex emergency, trauma, cardiac, stroke, critical care, and specialty cases while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative environment. The department has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the region’s first Magnet hospital, a 525-bed medical center, a primary teaching facility, and home to the area’s only Level I Trauma Center within a 126-mile region.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing required
- Registered Nurse license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
Nice To Haves
- BSN or MSN preferred
- NIHSS, TCRN, SCRN, TNCC, CEN, PALS, and ACLS preferred
- Prior RN experience preferred
- Emergency Department experience preferred
- Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply
- RNs who thrive in a fast-paced setting, communicate effectively, demonstrate strong critical thinking, and are committed to delivering safe, patient-centered emergency care.
