This Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in the ER / MedSurg / Swing Bed Unit of a Critical Access Hospital in a rural location. The unit has 25 beds and serves a diverse patient population including dementia dependent older adults, diabetes patients, and those requiring rehab/restorative care post-acute illness. The RN will be responsible for IV medication, fluid, and blood administration, initial care of trauma patients in the ER, and managing exacerbations of chronic illnesses, particularly in the geriatric population. Experience with COVID-19 patients and wound care is also part of the role. The team structure includes a Charge Nurse on each shift and Nurse Aides/CNAs. The RN will manage CPAP equipment troubleshooting but not respiratory therapy equipment. The position offers 12-hour shifts with self-scheduling and block scheduling available upon request. There is an every other weekend requirement and alternating holidays. No call or standby requirements are in place. Orientation includes three shifts of unit/department specific training. A radius rule of 50 miles applies, and candidates cannot be employed by associated healthcare systems. Time off requests must be submitted upfront, with a limit of 7 days for a 13-week contract. The charting system is EPIC, and a BSN is not required.
