About The Position

The registered nurse (RN) coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and throughout the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs. Working within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model and using the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice as a basis, the RN plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates all phases of care for assigned patients. The RN provides leadership through precepting, formal and informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates care in consideration of staff skill and experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and available resources. Strong communication, mentoring, and teaching skills are expected; the RN may also participate in committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive a personal vehicle as part of the role. The position is eligible for TN sponsorship, which requires state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification. New graduate nurses are directed to apply through the Nurse Residency Program posting. Within that application process, applicants may indicate units and specialties of interest and, if selected to proceed, meet with a Nursing Placement Coordinator to explore opportunities aligned with their goals.
