About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), also known as Stepdown. The IMCU is a 24-bed unit that provides care for higher acuity patients in neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and renal. Typical patients include those with respiratory failure/congestive heart failure, chronic trached ventilator patients, stroke and seizure patients, MI cardiac patients, Renal hemodialysis, and post-op surgical patients with extensive wounds. We are a Magnet designated facility committed to teamwork and quality healthcare. Sentara Obici Hospital is a 175-bed state-of-the-art facility located in Suffolk, VA. It is a recognized accredited Primary Stroke Center and a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, specializing in various services including orthopedic and spine, heart and vascular, advanced imaging, breast services, behavioral health, maternity, and weight loss surgery.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • None required (experience)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
  • 1 year of acute care (preferred)
  • Previous healthcare experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Adhere to the standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
  • Uphold the standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Utilize clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
