About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Critical Care/Intensive Care Unit provides specialized nursing care to critically ill patients with complex and changing needs. The role uses clinical judgment, critical thinking, and technical skills while collaborating with physicians and an interdisciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes. The position also contributes to patient and family education, emergency response, patient safety, and staff and student support.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• RN license eligible to practice in Wisconsin and/or Illinois, based on job location.
• Current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain it within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients using the nursing process.
• Assess patient needs and recognize changes in condition that require immediate intervention.
• Administer medications, IVs, and treatments safely and according to established standards.
• Use specialized patient care equipment safely and effectively.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to achieve positive patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families and support them throughout the care process.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and life-threatening situations.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and healing patient environment.
• Participate in quality assurance and patient safety initiatives.
• Support the orientation and training of new staff and nursing students as requested.
