About The Position

Delaware Hospice is actively seeking full-time Registered Nurses to work at our beautiful free-standing Inpatient Center in Milford, Delaware. The schedule will be 7am-7pm, including every other weekend. New graduates are welcome to apply, and hospice/homecare experience is not required. Our nurses are integral to Delaware Hospice's mission and interdisciplinary team. The PRN RN functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide hospice services to patients and families. They utilize the nursing process to provide quality nursing care to Inpatient Center Hospice patients in accordance with Delaware Hospice policy. Employees must be able to lift and turn patients as needed, following industry standards for safety and correct ergonomic practices. Employees involved in patient care may be exposed to blood, body tissue, and fluids regularly and are expected to follow all health care industry safety guidelines. Delaware Hospice nurses may care for pediatric patients and receive specialized training and orientation for the Katybug program, which specializes in helping children and young adults find relief from pain and symptoms while offering families resources and support. You will be part of a team of highly qualified, caring individuals who assist with the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Delaware.
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Minimum of two years nursing experience, preferably in hospice or home care.
  • CPR certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
  • Certification in hospice nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide hospice services to patients and families.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to provide quality nursing care to Inpatient Center Hospice patients in accordance with Delaware Hospice policy.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for patients and families, conducts weekly medical assessments, manages the care plan, informs about what to expect, and answers questions.
  • May care for pediatric patients and participate in the Katybug program.
