About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse at the Fulton Health Center in Fresno, CA. The role is 0.2 FTE, working 8 hours per week, with a hiring range of $48-$52/hr. The nurse will be responsible for various duties including overseeing non-licensed staff, patient triage, contributing to health center productivity, and preparing and monitoring patients undergoing in-clinic abortion services. Additionally, the role involves providing education and services related to sexual and reproductive health, managing lab reports, and performing triage services for both reproductive health and primary care patients via phone and patient portal.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform the duties described above
  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program
  • Current CA State RN license
  • Current BLS Certificate
  • Current experience using computer and mouse
  • Experience using a Microsoft Windows based program and willing to learn new computer skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and locations
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Current ACLS Certificate (CFU RNs exempt)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assuring non-licensed staff are qualified in performing back office/lab skills and achieve core competency levels on an annual basis
  • Provides input for the medical component of the non-licensed staff performance reviews
  • Oversees patient triage for medical problems and acute versus routine appointments for both reproductive health and primary care patients
  • Works with Center Manager or designee to facilitate flow and triage
  • Contributes to achieving health center productivity goals
  • Demonstrates PPMM customer service standards
  • Prepares recovery room for all in clinic abortion services
  • Prepares pre-operative medications
  • Assess post-operative patients for pain and bleeding control and early detection of complications
  • Oversees HSS functions: vital signs, post-operative instructions, education of patient identified birth control method
  • Provides intraoperative sedation medication and patient monitoring
  • Provides post-operative medications
  • Maintains and ensures emergency cart and equipment are stocked and current
  • Follows standardized procedures for the following patient visits: hormonal contraception, Emergency Contraception (EC), and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) screening
  • Provides patient education, counseling, lab work and ultrasound for medication abortions
  • Provide immunizations per approved guidelines and standardized procedures, such as HPV vaccination
  • Accepts and signs-off GC/CT, pap and other designated lab reports from clinician’s PAQs
  • Evaluates and develops plan for follow up
  • Refers paps/other labs that are outside the scope of CFU RN to the health centers’ clinicians
  • Verifies that all lab reports are handled appropriately and within the appropriate time frame
  • Provides advice/triage services to both reproductive health and primary care patients
  • Identifies medical urgency and schedules appointments with the health centers
  • Answers all calls placed in queue by Response Center as outlined in the Triage Policy
  • Responds to patient emails through the Patient Portal in HER
