About The Position

The Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to a diverse patient population and serves as an essential member of the healthcare team. The role involves applying the nursing process and established clinical practices to support safe, high-quality care, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and supporting patients and families throughout their healthcare journey. This is a full-time weekend-option position on the day shift at Deaconess Illinois Union County Hospital.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or Red Cross BLS certification upon hire.

• One year of previous clinical nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality patient care using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in status.
• Coordinate and direct nursing care according to established clinical practices and standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Advocate for patients while promoting safety, quality, and compassionate care.
• Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Coordinate care, communicate results, and support patients and families throughout their healthcare journey.
