About The Position

The Registered Nurse will deliver competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs. Nursing care is based on the nursing process and augments the medical plan of treatment. The Registered Nurse will deliver care with a team-orientation, an emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgment and appropriate decision-making abilities that take into consideration evidenced based practice. This position is for the 4 Main Department, a 36-bed unit with Pediatric Med/Surg and Behavioral Health patients, as part of the Winter Plan 2026-2027. Available assignment dates are 10/5/26 - 3/6/27 and 11/2/26 - 4/3/27. A completion bonus is offered at the end of the assignment if all hours/requirements have been met.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
2 years RN experience or successful completion of a Cook Children's Winter Plan contract required.
Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas required.
Current BLS required.
24 hours per week.
(4) day New Hire/Patient Care Orientation.

Nice To Haves

Pediatric experience preferred.
PALS or NRP strongly encouraged and if presented upon hire, must maintain certification without lapsing.
Certification as necessary in certain areas in the Medical Center.
