Registered Nurse (RN) Days: Stroke/ACE/Medical
About The Position
5 South West Allis Medical: Stroke/ACE Med/Surg is a 34 inpatient acute care Med/Surg unit caring for a wide variety of diagnosis including Stroke, Seizures, Neuro focus, Diabetes, Electrolyte imbalance, Kidney Disease, Mental Health, Dementia, Alzheimer’s. This is an excellent unit to build a neurological focus, foundational skills, become certified in the specialty of Med/Surg and develop specialized skills applicable to any area in nursing. The culture is collaborative, supportive, and focused on teaching. The skill mix is an equal mix of new graduates and experienced team staff. Typical RN to Patient Ratio: Days: 1:4-5, Nights: 1:5-6.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
Responsibilities
- Build foundational skills and knowledge through Nurse Residency and Preceptor directed orientation.
- Build skills in time management, triaging accountabilities, communication skills, pharmacology, lab interpretation, pathophysiology of disease process through a variety of med/surg patients with acute and chronic conditions.
- Coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Develop collaborative relationships with a resourceful multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts, patient centered care and team minded support.
- Be a valued member of a highly skilled, resilient, and versatile nursing team committed to ensuring the delivery of quality and compassionate healthcare to diverse patient populations.
