•$45 - $74•Onsite

About The Position

The Pre-Anesthesia Screening (PAS) nurse assesses surgical patients and determines their readiness for the day of surgery using evidence-based guidelines and standards. The nurse promotes appropriate pre-surgical testing and consultations, and follows an established escalating communication plan to reduce preventable delays and cancellations related to known medical issues and to support optimal patient safety. Nursing involves diagnosing and treating human responses to actual or potential health problems and establishing a therapeutic relationship with patients and families. As a leader and integrator of care, the professional nurse plans, coordinates, and evaluates patient care needs. This role carries out the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation, and contributes to quality improvement, education, professional practice, collaboration, ethical care, research-informed practice, resource utilization, leadership, and environmental health. Charge nurse and preceptor duties apply only when serving in those roles. Other duties may be assigned. This is a 0.8 FTE position working 64 hours per two-week pay period on permanent 8-hour evening shifts, with no weekend rotation.
