About The Position

The Registered Nurse will work in the 10-bed Intensive Care Unit at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus, caring for a wide variety of critically ill adult patients. Patient populations may include people with respiratory failure, sepsis, overdose or withdrawal, and postoperative surgical needs. The nurse provides close observation, hemodynamic monitoring, medication management, assistance with bedside procedures, and respiratory support. Critical thinking and effective communication with the care team and patients’ families are required. The position is 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks), with 12-hour day shifts and work every third weekend. The role is performed in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, professional practice guidelines, and the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act.

Requirements

At least 1 year of ICU RN experience.
Minnesota RN license.
BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

BSN or higher preferred.
Certification in a related specialty is highly desired.
Certification by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses or in a related specialty is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assess patient needs and identify expected nursing outcomes.
Develop individualized nursing plans of care.
Implement interventions during treatment based on the plan of care.
Evaluate care, patient responses to interventions, and expected outcomes.
Use communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.
Coordinate care with healthcare team members and delegate responsibilities as appropriate.
Advance care by applying standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
Promote evidence-based practice by participating in available opportunities.
Provide close observation, hemodynamic monitoring, medication management, assistance with bedside procedures, and respiratory support.
Perform responsibilities in accordance with policies, procedures, professional practice guidelines, and the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act.
