About The Position

Join Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth as a Registered Nurse and be part of something better! Our NICU is a fast-paced environment that includes high-acuity patients. The NICU patient population ranges from micro preemies to full-term infants (22 weeks to term gestation) with patient ratios of 1:1-3 across 63 beds. The department has a Neonatologist and NNP in-house 24/7, utilizes a Multidisciplinary Team Approach, Multidisciplinary Respiratory Modalities, and Daily Multidisciplinary Patient Care Rounds. It offers Electronic Self-Scheduling, no float to adult care, an Active Unit Based Council, and a NICU Parent Advocacy Group. The shift is Full-Time Nights, from 7pm to 7am. This role requires 2 years of recent Level 3 NICU experience. Andrews Women’s Hospital, part of the medical center, delivers a high volume of babies annually and offers comprehensive care, including a Level III neonatal intensive care unit. This NICU is one of the largest in North Texas and has recently been designated as a Level IV maternal care center, the highest designation from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Requirements

2 years of recent Level 3 NICU experience required
RN license.
BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of starting in this role.
Grad of an Accredited Program
A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Responsibilities

Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
Conduct patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses.
Secure patient travel.
Understand patient needs in healthcare.
Help patients and prevent issues.
Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting plans to reach desired outcomes.
Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
Assess and document learning needs regularly.
Work with colleagues and the community to create a care plan.
Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
