About The Position
The Registered Nurse works with the acute inpatient rehabilitation patient population at the St. Charles Campus of Good Samaritan University Hospital in Port Jefferson. The role involves assessing and monitoring patients, administering medication, documenting progress, and managing overall care. The nurse collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction, and advocates for patients and their loved ones through safety interventions, emotional support, and education.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required or currently enrolled in a BSN program.
- New York Registered Nurse (RN) license and registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- One or more years of working RN experience; new graduate RNs may be considered.
- Passion for rehabilitation nursing.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in subacute rehabilitation, long-term care, a nursing home, or acute care is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor rehabilitation patients.
- Administer medication and document patient progress.
- Manage overall care for the rehabilitation patient population.
- Partner with an interdisciplinary team, including attending physicians, registered nurses, and ancillary staff, to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Advocate for patients and build meaningful relationships with them and their loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support, and education.
