Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing. Graduate from an accredited college or university approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Minimum of five years as a Registered Nurse and have the ability to provide clinical and operational knowledge on hospital and nursing standards, regulations, policies, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum of one year as a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse from any state.
  • BLS/ACLS from American Red Cross or American Health Association.
  • Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesizes and makes appropriate clinical decisions using a wide variety of data sources, specifically patient response, anesthesia and surgical report and, pre-operative progress notes.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates standards of nursing for Wound, Ostomy, and Continence practice within the 99 MDG.
  • Utilizes knowledge and skill to as Wound, Ostomy Continence client needs and to place in collaboration with the nursing staff.
  • Initiates and implements plan of care is research-based and focused on the nursing.
  • Participates in discharge planning of wound/ostomy patient in conjunction with multidisciplinary team.
  • Identifies educational needs of patients, nursing and physician.
  • Coordinates patient care through a continuum of the surgical process and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
  • Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Assesses Uses the nursing process as a basis for professional practice.
  • Demonstrates proper preparation of patients for treatments and procedures, to include surgical.
  • Provides proper care and evaluation of post-procedural patients.
  • Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity in accordance with requirements.
