About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse - Wound Care (Full Time). The Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients with acute and chronic wounds. This role serves as a clinical expert and consultant in wound, ostomy, and continence care, promoting evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes. The Wound Care RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal healing, prevent complications, and support regulatory compliance and quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
  • DC RN License required
  • Minimum 2–3 years of acute care nursing experience
  • BLS certification required
  • Wound Care Certification (WCC, CWON, or WOCN) required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Experience in wound care, med-surg, or critical care preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive wound assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Provide direct care for complex wounds, including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers, and ostomies
  • Implement and monitor evidence-based wound care treatments and interventions
  • Serve as a clinical resource and consultant to nursing staff and providers on wound care management
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on wound prevention, treatment, and skin integrity maintenance
  • Monitor and track wound healing progress; adjust care plans as needed
  • Lead and support hospital-wide initiatives for pressure injury prevention and skin care
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including documentation and reporting requirements
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with physicians, dietitians, physical therapists, and case management
  • Assist with product evaluation and selection of wound care supplies and equipment
  • Conduct audits, collect data, and support quality improvement initiatives related to wound care outcomes
  • Provide staff education and competency validation related to wound care practices
