This position serves as an expert resource for patients and families dealing with complex physical and/or psychological problems, and acts as a resource for high-tech procedures and equipment. The Registered Nurse demonstrates expertise and the ability to deliver quality nursing care within their specialty, which may include central line consultation, wound care, Code Blue Team membership, IV consultation, or specialty area specific skills and procedures. The role involves collaboration in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care, maintaining supportive peer relationships, and ensuring cost-effective, quality patient care with outcome-centered interactions. The nurse will involve family/guardians in the plan of care and conduct patient and family education appropriate to the developmental level of the patient. This role also serves as a role model for staff in clinical practice, demonstrating leadership in clinical decision-making and providing clinical support for patients in crisis. The nurse will work across inpatient and outpatient areas, assessing, treating, and caring for all age groups, implementing care based on developmental stages. Responsibilities include interpreting and implementing procedures, policies, and nursing care objectives, participating in the creation and evaluation of standards for clinical practice, identifying learning needs of staff and orientees, providing in-services and unit instruction, and collaborating with Nursing Educators. Additionally, the role involves working with preceptors and orientees, assisting in evaluating progress, providing feedback, setting goals, and evaluating the orientation process.
