About The Position

This opportunity is in Northern Arizona where Hope and Navajo Nations meet. If you like outdoors and are fascinated by Native culture, this assignment is for you. You will be working five minutes from Canyon de Chelly, one of the largest, and most significant archaeological preserves in the U.S. The Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF) is based in Chinle, Arizona (Northeast Arizona near Canyon De Chelly National Monument). The CCHCF is a 60-bed hospital which serves as the health care hub for the region. The medical staff includes Family Physicians, Internists, Pediatricians, General Surgeons, OB/GYN's, Anesthesiologists, and a Psychiatrist. In addition to routine outpatient and inpatient primary care, services available to our patients include Adult Intensive Care, General Surgery (including laparoscopic surgery), routine and operative Obstetrics, and 24-Hour Emergency Room Services. Health care services are provided to approximately 37,000 active users. Strong Navajo cultural traditions exist within the community, offering an opportunity to learn the Navajo language, or to learn about traditional Navajo medicine. The service unit is located on the Colorado Plateau with excellent opportunities for photography, hiking, running, road biking, cross country skiing, and mountain biking. Canyon de Chelly National Monument is within 5 miles of the hospital and is a wonderful place for exploring and sightseeing, running and mountain biking.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma from an accredited professional nursing program.
  • Minimum of 36 months of nursing experience, including at least 12 months in Women's Health
  • Must have current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Must hold a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. Territory.

Responsibilities

  • The RN provides contraceptive counseling and nursing care for prenatal, postpartum, and gynecological patients.
  • Deliver skilled comprehensive nursing care, including triage, treatment, and health record maintenance.
  • Recognize complications and implement therapeutic interventions as needed.
  • Manage routine and specialized care for patients, including referrals for high-risk and at-risk individuals.
  • Collaborate with care teams, patients, families, and external agencies.
  • The RN conducts patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Ensure follow-up appointments are scheduled and maintained according to discharge instructions.
  • Assign outpatient flow tasks and ensure completion of daily medication inventory checks and unit logs.
  • Perform clinical procedures such as IV access, phlebotomy, EKGs, and emergency respiratory treatments.
  • The RN administers IVIG infusions, point-of-care testing, and respond to emergency codes.
