Registered Nurse, Vascular IMCU
About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring full-time Registered Nurses for our Vascular Stepdown Intermediate Care Unit (9K), home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center. Qualified candidates may be eligible for up to a $15,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. This is a full-time position with 36 hours per week, working the day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The unit requires every other weekend work and holiday rotation. 9 Kaufman is a 24-bed stepdown intermediate care unit specializing in vascular surgery, telemetry, and renal/pancreas transplant care. The unit brings together RNs, LPNs, Nursing Care Partners, Unit Ambassadors, and Clinical Support Associates to deliver exceptional patient care. Nurses on 9 Kaufman will care for a diverse patient population and gain hands-on experience with complex vascular procedures such as aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, femoral bypass surgeries, and amputations. The unit also serves as an extension of the renal/pancreas transplant program. Every bed is monitored, providing opportunities to strengthen telemetry skills and expand expertise in surgical specialty and transplant nursing. The unit is committed to professional growth, offering specialized training and support for PCCN certification. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4. New graduate RNs are welcome and will participate in an 11-week Transition to Practice program, followed by a comprehensive 6-month residency program. The starting pay rate for new graduate registered nurses with less than 1 year of experience is $36.00/hour. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is the region’s first Magnet hospital, a 525-bed medical center, a primary teaching facility, and home to the area’s only Level I Trauma Center within a 126-mile region. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice and professional performance encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing required
- Registered Nurse license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
- Students completing an accredited nursing program may be considered
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nurse license may be considered
Nice To Haves
- BSN or MSN preferred
- Prior RN experience preferred
- Intermediate Care/Stepdown experience preferred
- Strong candidates with related acute care, intermediate care, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply
- New graduate RNs or experienced RNs with no acute care experience are encouraged to apply
