About The Position

UC Health is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the Vascular Access department at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The Vascular Access Nurse will support the Medical Center’s inpatient and outpatient population at the Level I Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Associates Degree, minimum required
  • Current OH RN License
  • BLS certification
  • Relevant vascular access or ultrasound experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Bedside insertion of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), midlines, and peripheral IV catheters under ultrasound guidance.
  • Examine, assess, and evaluate vascular access devices.
  • Provide education to patients and family members on the procedure to be performed as well as line care and maintenance.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, professionalism, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the hospital.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation within the medical record per hospital policy.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others. Time and Attendance Policy. Supports effective use of staff and supplies.
