About The Position

This position functions within the Urgent Care Department to assist patients and medical staff within the ambulatory care setting, responsible for the overall operation of the Clinic. The role involves maintaining skill sets, annual competencies, certifications, and participating in in-services and educational programs. The nurse will complete all mandatory training, attend staff meetings, and adhere to infection control policies and procedures. They will maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring adequate supplies and upkeep of unit and equipment, reporting any defective or missing equipment and safety hazards. Unresolved problems with patients, coworkers, or visitors will be referred to the department manager or administrative manager for resolution. Employee concerns will be addressed consistent with Human Resources Policy. The role provides clinical services, working with providers, clinic staff, and management to ensure excellent quality of care, efficient resource utilization, and compliance with SEARHC standards. It also provides leadership and direction to clinic staff, ensuring efficient operation of all clinic aspects, including the front desk and patient care. The nurse will maintain medication inventory and supplies not on the Warehouse PAR system, ensure quality control checks for Point of Care tests, and clearly and correctly document all care and services provided in a professional and timely manner. They will oversee the opening and closing of their provider clinics, assist providers and other staff as needed, and communicate effectively with other departments to be an effective resource.

Requirements

  • MUST HAVE ACTIVE ALASKA LICENSE AT TIME OF SUBMITTAL
  • Urgent Care experience must be within the last 2 years.
  • PROOF OF FLU VACCINE REQUIRED
  • Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska.
  • Agency staff must have an active Alaska license at time of submittal.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of urgent care experience
  • Knowledge of Nursing process and the ability to apply this in the working environment.
  • Customer service principles.
  • Safety and infection control principles.
  • Skills in Completing assessments, anticipation of needs, and specimen collection.
  • Use of equipment such as computers and medical equipment.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to Multi-task and work independently in fast paced environment.
  • Be a team-player.
  • Willing to teach when appropriate.
  • Problem-solve and use critical thinking skills to develop and maintain good working relations with other staff and departments.
  • Willingness to ask for help when encountering a new or challenging situation.
