Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Coordinator (UC) - Medical Specialties Unit
About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for their PRISM Awarded Medical Specialties Unit at Sentara Norfolk General in Norfolk, VA. This role involves providing clinical leadership for nursing care delivery within the department, leading safety and quality initiatives, simplifying workflow, and contributing to staff development. The goal is to increase staff satisfaction and promote excellent customer service. The unit is a 42-bed Medical Specialties Unit with a diverse patient population including conditions like CHF, Sickle Cell, Renal Failure, Vascular issues, Sepsis, COPD, Pneumonia, Osteomyelitis with Surgical Interventions, and Wound Care. The unit utilizes EPIC integration for data input and employs a teamwork model with communication via walkie-talkies.
Requirements
- 18 months nursing experience required.
- BSN required; Master degree preferred, if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required.
- Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty.
- Virginia RN License REQUIRED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire
- 18-months experience REQUIRED
Nice To Haves
- Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area.
- Provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department.
- Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives.
- Focuses on and simplifies workflow.
- Contributes to the development of staff.
- Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
