About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator at Norfolk General Hospital's Neuro Unit, in Norfolk, Virginia. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is offered for qualified candidates, along with special bonuses and relocation assistance for qualified candidates. This is a full-time, third shift position (7p-7a). The Neuro IMCU is a blended unit that cares for all neuro patients, including stroke patients, post-surgical back and neck patients, and houses one of the few Epilepsy Monitoring Units (EMU) in the area. The unit provides highly skilled care to neuroscience patients including back and neck surgical patients, epilepsy patients, all neurosurgeries (brain, pituitary, etc.), and stroke patients (surgical and non-surgical). The role demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for the assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager, the RN Unit Coordinator leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to staff development. The goal is to increase staff satisfaction and promote excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • 18 months nursing experience required.
  • BSN Degree REQUIRED
  • Virginia RN License REQUIRED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire.
  • Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty.

Nice To Haves

  • Master degree preferred, if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required.
  • Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.
