About The Position

Sentara is hiring a full-time Day Shift Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for the Dedicated Oncology Unit at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This is a full-time position with 36 hours per week, working days from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Oncology 6 RP Unit is a 36-bed inpatient Intermediate Care Unit dedicated to caring for patients with cancer. Nurses on this unit provide compassionate, specialized care while monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, delivering chemotherapy and other treatments, and supporting patients through complex care needs. Care provided on this unit includes chemotherapy, hospice, radiation, stem cell transplant/CAR-T, radioactive iodine, and symptom management. Nurses will work within one of the country’s largest cancer networks, accredited as an Integrated Network Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. They will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including board-certified and fellowship-trained cancer experts, to support individualized patient care. Care is provided in an environment that prioritizes advanced, evidence-based technology and treatments, including innovative radiation therapies, robotic surgery, and HIPEC®.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required
  • Registered Nurse license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) or Sentara-approved Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card required within 6 months of hire
  • 18 months RN experience required
  • Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area
