Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Transplant/VAD Cardiac Stepdown unit on the night shift. This role is full-time and involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The nurse will communicate patient information to the healthcare team, collaborate on patient goals, and evaluate progress. Professional growth is encouraged through learning activities aligned with Board of Nursing standards. The Cardiac Stepdown Unit (7 Medical Center East) is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment specializing in advanced heart failure, LVAD, and heart/lung transplant populations. It serves as a bridge between ICU and progressive care, managing adult patients with complex cardiac and post-surgical needs. Patient populations include LVAD patients, heart and lung transplant recipients, end-stage heart failure patients, post-cardiac surgery patients, intermittent acute cardiac stepdown and progressive care patients, and general cardiology patients with a wide variety of diagnoses. The unit offers high-acuity cardiology exposure, a team-centered culture, opportunities for growth and development, and the chance to build long-term patient relationships through complex care coordination.
