Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry
About The Position
This role involves providing expert care for adult patients with various conditions, including COPD, CHF, diabetes, stroke rule-outs, syncope, and those recovering from cardiac events. The Registered Nurse will continuously observe, analyze, and interpret ECG monitor screens and cardiac rhythms, assess and document patient conditions, and safely administer medications and treatments. Collaboration with physicians and other healthcare team members is essential for executing care plans and escalating concerns. Patient and family education regarding health conditions, medications, lifestyle changes, and post-discharge care is also a key component of this position.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program (RN Diploma, ADN, BSN, or MSN).
- Valid, unencumbered RN license to work in the State of Virginia.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA).
- Strong clinical judgment.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure environments.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of 18 months of acute care RN experience is highly preferred.
- New graduates with an arrhythmia certification will be considered and are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
- Continuously observe, analyze, and interpret electrocardiogram (ECG) monitor screens and cardiac rhythms.
- Assess, document, and report changes in patient conditions, including responding promptly to alarms and dysrhythmias.
- Safely administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and treatments to adult patients.
- Provide expert care for patients with conditions such as COPD, CHF, diabetes, stroke rule-outs, syncope, and those recovering from cardiac events.
- Partner with physicians, monitor technicians, and other healthcare team members to escalate concerns and execute care plans.
- Educate patients and their families regarding health conditions, medications, lifestyle changes, and post-discharge care.
