About The Position

The unit specializes in various patient types, including: Total joints, Cardiac rule out, Pneumonia, Psychiatric cases, and General surgery post-operative care. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, with Nurse Aides present at ratios of 1:8 to a maximum of 1:12. This position includes nights, every other weekend rotation, and a rotating holiday schedule as needed. Traveling staff may be required to float to Medical Telemetry, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or Intensive Care Unit (ICU). New hires will undergo unit-specific orientation, which may include the opportunity to test out of EPIC if experienced and meeting with the unit educator for one full shift orientation. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment or three shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks. The care setting is acute, focusing on a diverse range of medical conditions across various regions.

Requirements

• BLS (AHA) certification
• Experience with administration of nitroglycerin
• Experience with insulin management (including initiation and transfer)
• Experience with low dose dopamine and dobutamine
• Experience with drips and titration
• Experience titrating heparin drips (weight-based)
• Experience with common titratable and set rate drips including heparin
• Ability to read cardiac strips
• Experience with CPAP
• Experience with BIPAP
• Experience with high flow oxygen therapy
