About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Surgical Trauma/Burn Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Texas Health Fort Worth. The unit is a 20-bed ICU that cares for patients in a Level I Trauma Center. Patients include those with Trauma Surgical, Renal Transplant, Burn, and MSOF conditions. The unit utilizes CRRT and cares for vent patients. It is also a designated Donor transfer center and cares for ICU-level burn injuries. The department is known for its high-performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills, self-scheduling options that promote work/life balance, and opportunities for educational and career growth. The department also boasts a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and an engaged leadership team. This is a high acuity, high volume department.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required.
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required.
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire.
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism.
  • Have basic computer skills using medical management application systems.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • CLIAFE – Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required.
  • TNCC or ATCN – within 12 months of hire preferred.
  • Current ICU/PCU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Incorporates age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers.
  • Delivery of high-quality patient care through nursing education, nursing research, and innovations in nursing practice.
