About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center provides expert, compassionate care to critically ill surgical patients in a 24-bed, high-acuity Level I Trauma Center. The SICU cares for a diverse population including general surgery, trauma, transplant, and cardiothoracic surgery patients. In this role, the RN delivers evidence‑based, patient‑centered care while collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team to manage complex and rapidly changing clinical conditions. Nurses in this environment serve as clinical leaders, patient advocates, and key partners in coordinating advanced therapies and critical interventions. The unit is a 24‑bed, high‑acuity critical care unit specializing in General Surgery, Trauma, Transplant, and Cardiothoracic Surgery. The SICU also cares for a wide range of acutely ill patients requiring advanced and complex therapies. Requirements

  • At least 1 year of previous of Nursing experience in acute care or sub-acute setting
  • Massachusetts registered Nurse license
  • BLS required
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions
  • PC skills
  • Vaccination against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Critical Care and Telemetry experience preferred
