About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join their Surgical Day Care team within the Surgical Program. Humber River Health is North America's first fully digital hospital, committed to changing healthcare through technology and clinical expertise. They serve a community of 850,000 residents in North West Toronto and are affiliated with the University of Toronto and Queen’s University. The role involves using technology to improve patient care and reduce inefficiencies. The position is temporary part-time, with hours from Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 21:00 hrs, subject to change. The location is Humber River Health, Wilson Site.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • BCLS certification upon hire to show proof of valid current certification (Registered Nurses currently employed by HRH are exempted).
  • Minimum 2 years recent surgical experience required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in initiating IV therapy required.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to work with a multidisciplinary team, patients, family members and visitors.
  • Demonstrate good patient assessment skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent patient/family teaching skills.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 year experience in a perioperative setting preferred.
  • Post Anesthetic Care Certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
  • Successful completion of the Health assessment course preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Care of patients pre-op and post-operatively.
  • Care of patients post-diagnostic interventions.
  • Care planning and coordination of care with various team members.
  • Utilization of computerized systems for documentation of patient care.
  • Participation in project teams or Hospital committees as required.
