About The Position

McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center is your community medical provider, serving the Willamette Valley and its residents. Our 113-bed hospital offers inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, medical, surgical and emergency care. We are a family of caregivers offering care to our larger family — our community. The Surgical Care Unit registered nurse provides post-operative patient care, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, coordinating with the surgical team, and managing patient education.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as an RN, State of Oregon.
  • Current BLS.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs and surgical procedure.
  • Monitor vital signs, pain levels, and other clinical parameters throughout the surgical process.
  • Administer medications as prescribed, including pre-operative medications and post-operative pain management.
  • Manage post-operative complications such as nausea, pain, bleeding, and vital sign instability.
  • Provide patient education regarding post-operative care instructions and wound management.
  • Maintain clear and concise communication with the surgical team, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Report any patient concerns or changes in condition promptly.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
