Registered Nurse- OR- Day Shift
About The Position
Using the Quality Caring Model, the Operating Room Nurse (OR RN) demonstrates expertise in performance and application of the nursing process to plan and manage the care of patients in the operating room setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. An innovator in minimally invasive surgery, Holy Cross Hospital was first in Montgomery County to offer robotic surgery with the da Vinci® surgical system. The OR Nurse plans and delivers patient care. Collaborates with the surgical team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients. Performs pre-operative assessments, including reviewing patient histories and conducting physical examinations. Performs scrub functions including selection and handling of instruments and supplies during procedures. Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communication of patient condition. Monitors patients' vital signs and ensures their safety and comfort throughout the surgical process. Assists with specimen collection, processing, and documentation. Educates patients and family. Plans continuum of care.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN/MSN within a specific time frame)
- Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting (scrubbing and circulating)
