About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Substance Use Disorder clinic team. This role is part of a new program where the team will work together to build effective workflows. The ideal candidate is adaptable, a great communicator, detail-oriented, and has excellent time management skills. RNs in this position collaborate with providers to guide patients to the appropriate level of care. The clinic environment is described as small and close-knit, with professionals who share a passion for treating patients with Substance Use Disorders.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred
  • One year of healthcare experience preferred
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside.
  • Within first 30 days of employment, all requirements to obtain license needed for role is completed.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Triage patient needs
  • Provide education to patients and families
  • Obtain vitals during in-person visits
  • Address inquiries via phone and MyChart messaging
  • Utilize nursing and assessment skills
  • Adhere to triage protocols
  • Collaborate with providers to guide patients to the appropriate level of care
  • Answer patient inquiries over the telephone, assessing the severity of the patient's symptoms and medical needs according to triage algorithms.
