About The Position

The Stress Test RN is responsible for professional nursing care of the cardiac patient and achieving total patient centered care through use of the nursing process within the rules and regulations of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act. Responsible for providing training and acting as a resource to Stress Test Assistants. Responsible for managing the operations of the office on a daily basis, performing procedures including exercise and pharmacological cardiac stress testing with and without nuclear imaging and echocardiography, coordinating patient care by interacting with all Clinic departments, hospitals, nursing homes and home care agencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years Cardiac, ICU or CCU experience required.
  • Licensed as an RN in the State of Illinois.
  • CPR required per American Heart Association guidelines within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS certification required per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Must obtain one of the following certifications within three years of hire: Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification (RN-BC) through ANCC or Cardiovascular Nursing Certification (CVRN-BC) through ABCM.

Responsibilities

  • Nurses will be cross-trained to work other areas in the facility utilizing those nursing skills and techniques necessary to meet the patient's needs and provide quality care.
  • Interview patient for history, assessment of health knowledge and maintenance, and document findings in the medical record
  • Obtain medical information, chief complaints, vital signs and diagnostic test results in preparation for examination and document in the medical record.
  • Serve as a patient advocate by protecting the patient rights and give attention to complaints regarding service.
  • Screen all patient problems either in person or by phone with the resolution being advice or referral to physician.
  • Provide a planned education program related to prevention, health maintenance, specific disease or condition and document results in the medical record.
  • Give home care instructions for procedures and medications.
  • Provide pre and postoperative instructions for specific surgical and/or medical procedures.
  • Document patient education in the medical record.
  • Administer medications by all routes except IV blood and blood products or chemotherapy.
  • Assist physician in the examination and treatment of the patient according to the Infection Control Policy.
  • Serve on Stat Code Team, may direct team and provide education to staff.
  • Is available to on an occasional rotating basis to assist physicians after hours and on weekends with patient care.
  • Restock supplies as indicated daily.
  • Check crash cart, defibrillator and medications daily, see that all equipment is present and in working order.
  • Complete biological testing and cidex efficacy testing as necessary.
  • Complete pre-op and post-op phone calls.
  • Transfer specimens/cultures to lab.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
