About The Position

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Maintains accountability for his/her own practice; provides nursing care for patients; participates in patient and family teaching; and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the acute care setting. The ED Registered Nurse also delegates/provides direction to other nursing personnel in the unit in accordance with their level of experience and expertise.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing with current WI RN licensure in good standing.
  • Minimum of one year RN experience (or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum of one year ED experience required.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC (or similar trauma certification) or willing to obtain.
  • Meets OMC health requirements

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with registration, ED clinicians, and Urgent Care clinicians to direct patients to the appropriate care setting
  • Initiates standing nursing orders and protocols when appropriate.
  • Provides skilled nursing care in accordance with Nurse Practice acts.
  • Delegates care appropriately to other team members
  • Follows the Standards of Nursing Care as well as the Nursing Process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation while delivering high quality patient care.
  • Continually strives to meet and exceed customer service standards in all interactions with customers, which include patients, visitors, other hospital employees, and medical staff
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
  • Personal accountability to stay up to date on all communication.
  • Communicates an accurate and concise end of shift patient report.
  • Interacts with physicians regarding patient status on an on-going basis.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the patient care team.
  • Communicates patient status and plan of care with patient and their family.
  • Attends staff meetings and mandatory education.
  • Maintains appropriate licenses and certifications independently.
  • Daily audit of crash cart, trauma cart, pediatric cart, glucometer and refrigerator temperatures with completion of associated documentation
