Registered Nurse - Specialty Care
About The Position
This opportunity is in Northern Arizona, serving the Navajo and Hope Nations, an area with a significant healthcare shortage. The role is based at the Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF), a 60-bed hospital that acts as the healthcare hub for the region. The facility provides a wide range of services including routine outpatient and inpatient primary care, Adult Intensive Care, General Surgery, Obstetrics, and 24-Hour Emergency Room Services to approximately 37,000 active users. The community offers a rich Navajo cultural experience with opportunities to learn the language and traditional medicine. The location on the Colorado Plateau provides excellent outdoor recreational activities such as photography, hiking, running, road biking, cross country skiing, and mountain biking. Canyon de Chelly National Monument is located within 5 miles of the hospital.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma from an accredited professional nursing program.
- A minimum of 36 months of nursing experience, with at least 24 months in Specialty Care.
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. Territory.
Responsibilities
- Deliver care to patients with diverse injuries and illnesses specific to the specialty clinic.
- Perform comprehensive professional nursing duties, including assessment, treatment, and patient education.
- Facilitate referrals to other specialty clinics and external providers.
- Ensure timely follow-up for lab tests, imaging results, and specialty appointments.
- Provide counseling and education to patients and families, promoting self-care and improved health outcomes.
- Assist with clinic-specific procedures, including minor surgeries, wound care, and orthopedic procedures.
- Serve as a liaison for patient referrals and collaborate with team members to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment, ensuring functionality and safety.
- Administer medications, manage medical equipment, and provide emergency care as required.
