About The Position

A Shift Supervisor for Medical/Surgical, Emergency Department (ED), and Obstetrics (OB) is a registered nurse (RN) who oversees the clinical operations, patient flow, and staff performance during a specific shift. This leadership role ensures high-quality care, optimal resource allocation, and adherence to policies, acting as a liaison between staff, clinicians, and management.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
  • Licensed in the state of Wisconsin and in good standing
  • 3 years of experience working in med/surg, ED, and OB
  • Active BLS
  • Active ACLS
  • TNCC or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Knowledge of current nursing practices and technical skills
  • Provide age appropriate and culturally appropriate care
  • Skilled in use of basic patient care equipment and supplies
  • Demonstrate and maintain required competencies
  • Administer medications as required by WI State Nursing guidelines
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation via facility policy and procedure
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and their relation to patient care outcomes
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in performing all job duties
  • Assess multiple systems, develop plans of care, provide intervention and education, and assess outcomes of patient care
  • Ensure that all orders are carried out timely
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members and team members across the organization
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully

Responsibilities

  • Provides skilled nursing care in accordance with Nurse Practice acts.
  • Follows the Standards of Nursing Care as well as the Nursing Process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation while delivering high quality patient care.
  • Performs and documents, timely and accurate patient assessments as outlined in Nursing Standards of Care
  • Provides and documents patient care as outlined in the Nursing Standards of Care
  • Plans, implements, and documents a focused care plan with goals for each patient.
  • Evaluates patient progress toward goals.
  • Participates in the interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Implements and completes clinician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates quality by administering medications based on nursing standards and OMC policy.
  • Continually strives to exceed patient experience standards in all interactions with customers, which includes patients, visitors, organization team members, and medical staff
  • Demonstrates a team/collaborative approach with colleagues.
