About The Position

This role involves supervising and coordinating nursing activities within the Children's Rehabilitation Center (CRC) or Butler Adult Living Center (Butler) under the direction of the Director of Nursing. The position provides direct patient care, including personal care, medication administration, lab draws, and nursing assessments. The Registered Nurse Supervisor oversees the work of RNs, LPNs, and CNAs on their shift, delegates tasks, and monitors performance. They are responsible for coordinating overall care plans for individuals at CRC and, in conjunction with the Butler Administrator, for individuals at Butler. The role also includes sharing after-hours medical and/or staffing call responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited college or technical school of Nursing (RN).
Associate degree plus four years related experience and supervisory experience required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Current License issued by the AR State Board of Nursing (RN).
Valid Arkansas Driver's License.
Valid Car insurance.
Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, ICF/MR Regulations.
Ability to instruct and train staff or residents in a skill or subject.
Ability to observe, evaluate, and document performance of staff or residents.
Regularly required to talk, see and hear.
Frequently required to sit, use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

RN with bachelor’s degree plus two years related experience and supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Develops a nurse schedule in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
Ensures adequate staffing 24 hours daily, including nurse availability for accompanying individuals to medical appointments, outings, ER trips, and transports.
Adjusts schedules for scheduled/unscheduled time off and utilizes resources to fill staffing gaps with Unit Coordinator assistance.
Takes calls on weekend call rotation and/or when needed.
Serves as a trained driver for individual transportation, maintaining car insurance.
Provides nursing care according to Departmental Standards, Nurse Practice Act, and ICF/IID Regulations.
Performs physical assessments of individuals upon admission, prior to discharge, quarterly, and during acute illness.
Completes weekday AM/PM medication passes at Butler in the absence of staff or ensures a nurse is available to do so.
Assists with medication passes at CRC and Butler as needed.
Allows individuals to practice medication and/or nursing goals/objectives during medication passes and assesses progress.
Ensures nursing supplies and equipment are available in the absence of the Nursing Coordinator.
Works with the LPN shift Supervisor to place supply orders weekly and prepare purchase orders.
Collects admission data and implements a plan of care for individuals at Butler and CRC.
Oversees nursing responsibilities during the assigned shift to ensure all required duties are completed.
Completes Butler quarterly assessments and CRC assessments.
Communicates with families, facility staff, physicians, other facilities, and support organizations.
Coordinates admissions, discharges, or changes in room assignments with Administrator and Direct Support Professional leadership at CRC and provides support for Butler admissions and discharges.
Assists with the coordination of medical appointments with nursing staff and community health providers for individuals at CRC and provides support to Butler Administrator.
Coordinates regular quarterly nurse staff meetings and in-services with the Director of Nursing on the assigned shift.
Addresses job performance concerns within their assigned shift and informs the Director of Nursing.
Conducts orientation and annual training of non-nursing staff as assigned.
Maintains own continuing education hours for licensure.
Coordinates nursing department functions in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
Evaluates nursing activities to ensure consistent quality care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.
Reports problems impacting resident care, safety, and security to the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Physician, and Administrator.
Attends staff and mandatory organizational meetings.
Ensures adherence to infection control standards.
Protects and promotes the rights of individuals served.
Initiates and follows through with departmental protocol in emergency situations.
Maintains familiarity with organization and department policies and procedures.
Takes call schedule as assigned, including staff relief call and weekend call.
Responds to medical call when assigned and reports to the facility if medical needs cannot be resolved by phone.
Complies with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easterseals Arkansas.
Accesses client protected health information only within their program and as approved by Supervisor or Privacy Officer.
Directly supervises RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and laws.
Oversees employee training/in-services, planning, assigning and directing work, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
