About The Position

Temecula Valley Hospital (TVH), part of Southwest Healthcare, is seeking experienced, Seasonal Per Diem Registered Nurses for its ICU, ED, PCU & Med-Surg Floors. These are temporary assignments running from October 2026 through March 2027. TVH offers competitive pay and a bonus for successful completion of assigned shifts. The ICU Registered Nurse performs initial assessments, documents appropriately for the patient's clinical presentation, care setting, age, developmental level, and cultural/religious orientation. They initiate discharge planning upon admission and are skilled in calculating and titrating vasoactive drugs, caring for patients on mechanical ventilation, and interpreting cardiac arrhythmias. The role also involves monitoring hemodynamic status, identifying and treating dysrhythmias, and assisting with diagnosis and interventional procedures.

Requirements

  • One (1) year Emergency or Critical Care experience in an acute care facility
  • Registered Nurse with current California RN license
  • NIHSS required within 3 months of hire
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA) certifications required

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial assessment and documents appropriately for the level of care appropriate to the patient’s clinical presentation/diagnosis, care setting, age development level, and cultural and religious orientation.
  • Initiates discharge planning for each patient upon admission as appropriate.
  • Calculates and titrates vasoactive drugs used in the ICU in response to changing patient condition.
  • Cares for patients receiving mechanical ventilation, including assessment of effective ventilation and suctioning techniques.
  • Interprets cardiac arrhythmias and intervenes appropriately, including alerting the physician to significant changes.
  • Identifies and prioritizes the need for further assessment based on the patient’s clinical presentation/diagnosis, care setting, desire for care and responses to any previous care.
  • Monitors hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interprets the results.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring and identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately.
  • Accurately assigns triage categories using Emergency Severity Index.
  • Assists emergency room physician with diagnosis and interventional procedures, i.e., central lines, closed reductions, advanced airway management.
  • Monitors the patient undergoing procedural sedation.
  • Performs ACLS and PALS algorithms and protocols.
  • Maintains current competencies on all Emergency Department equipment including defibrillator, pacer, infusion pumps, etc.
