About The Position

Indiana University Health is looking for passionate, experienced nurses to join their team and collaborate with top medical professionals. This Same Day Surgery (SDS) unit recovers patients from a variety of procedure and surgical areas post-anesthesia. The unit is open Monday – Friday, with some on-call on the weekends and weeknights that is rotating with all staff. This position is referral eligible and qualifies for a location differential. The unit has 49 bays and offers opportunities to gain skills in IV starts, patient teaching/education, evidence-based practice changes, and is a teaching facility. The unit has received national recognition, including Magnet designation and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Protocols (ERAS). Unit culture highlights include an NPG Committee, Healthy Work Environment Committee, Stress First Aid, and an Education Committee.

Requirements

• Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN).
• Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

• Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recover patients from a variety of procedure and surgical areas post-anesthesia.
• Provide OR Pre-op & Phase 2 recovery care.
• Provide ERCP Pre/Post care.
• Provide IR Pre/Post care.
• Provide CT/US Pre/Post care.
• Provide Endo Pre/Post care.
