Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Unit
About The Position
Essentia Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Medical Unit at St Josephs Medical Center in Brainerd and Baxter, Minnesota. The nurse delivers comprehensive patient care across the care process, serves as a team leader, and helps advance the facility’s and Essentia’s mission while adhering to applicable regulatory and accrediting standards. The Medical Unit cares for neurological patients, including people recovering from strokes or needing neurological evaluations; respiratory patients, including those with COPD; patients with general medical conditions such as diabetes, infections, abdominal pain, and gastrointestinal bleeding; and patients recovering from procedures such as hernia repairs and ENT surgeries. The position is 0.75 FTE, or 60 hours per pay period, with rotating 12-hour day and overnight shifts. The schedule includes every third weekend and holidays. A hiring incentive is offered. The role is based at St Josephs Medical Center; no remote or hybrid arrangement is specified.
Requirements
- BSN or ADN degree from an accredited school or college of nursing.
- Current nursing licensure in the state(s) of employment.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within one month.
Responsibilities
- Organize and deliver comprehensive patient care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Lead the care team by delegating responsibilities to nursing staff according to their licensure, training, and role specifications.
- Contribute to the facility’s and Essentia’s mission and goals.
- Follow Joint Commission standards and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting requirements.
- Provide care to patients with neurological, respiratory, and general medical conditions, as well as patients recovering from procedures.
